I am in the middle of changing the alternator on my 1989 Discovery TDI, i purchased a new alternator from rimmers, they had no lucas alternators so i bought a QH as they said it would fit.
:( Problem is the wiring.:(
On the lucas it has a main brown cable, a thin brown cable, a white cable plus two blue cables, the blue cables are attached to two small black boxes marked 89-51 and one of cable fits on to a spade fitting on the alternator and the other is connected to the white cable which is connected to a second spade connector.
On the back of the new alternator i have a connection with the letter B and another with W and a spade fiting next to the B connection then to the right there is a small black cover with D+ mark on it and a thread and two washer nuts. any idear's where the wires fit as the manuals are no help ? :rolleyes:
