Disco identification numbers

I am about to buy a Landrover Discovery and I want to be able to check the vin numbers from the log book with the vin numbers on the vehicle/engine etc.

Can anybody advise me were to look for these.

Is it a Disco series 1?

Right hand side wheel arch ...should be printed on chassis ......
Plate infront of radiator
Or plate insde the windscreen left hand side (visible from outside)

Engine shoud be on the block Righ hand side next to the aircon compressor.
