hi ppl can some 1 tell me what bolts hold the complete assy to the block as i've read there is no need 2 undo the water pump 1s thx:D
oh its a 300 tdi aswell

There are 3 down to the left on the water pump, these are the long ones that go through the P gasket. There is a nut, across to the left, in a recess, this is the other P gasket one.

Take the bolts out of the alternator and power steering pump, let them hang to one side.

There are 2 bolts down near the bottom, take the whole casting off.

check out the three long ones that hold the p gasket ,mine had badly coroded dont know weather this was due to the leak or the cause of it, there only pennies. alan......

Here's a pic of what your aiming for, was fairly quick with the fan and cowl out the way, crack the bolts off the pulleys with the belt still on, not that we forgot lol.

thx 4 the pic that really helps
i shall do it as soon as there is a shop open 2 get replacement bolts as sod law i'll need them (did with the water pump last time):rolleyes:

Hi Malc.

If you are getting new bolts for the p gasket get some for the pulleys also, these are only a few pence. The old ones tend to become rounded off after they have been removed a few times.
