Hi folks out there!
I am a relative novice when it comes to diesels. My TD5 Disco (1999) has been running well to date, but is now experiencing a starting problem. When cold, once the ignition is switched on, I must wait for a relatively long period (1 to 2 minutes) after the heater plug coil indicator has gone out until the fuel pump has stopped pumping and built up enough pressure to facilitate a start - a hissing sound from the vicinity of the head simultaneously ceases. The best way to start the engine is then to use the air purge method and keep the accelerator floored while cranking the engine until it takes. Please - any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
