I thought that i wounld let you all know about my experainces about running a disco 200 tdi on veg oil, first of all read about it on the internet about using veg oil as a fuel there are plenty on sites that cover this subject just type "veg oil" into google. I tried mixing it and the disco runs fine if not better but i was still worried about starting from cold with the veg oil in the inj pump and lines. I finally bought a pre heater kit from www.dieselveg.com (http://www.dieselveg.com) great blokes and gave me a lot of info.
Fitting the kit took about 2 days with the dreaded wiring it worked at first but then i had an air leak that took a bit longer to fix but know it works fine. Starts on diesel from the small tank i have fitted in the boot and then i switch over to veg oil that comes from the main tank and that is heated from a matrix that is plumbed into the cooling system and has a second electric heater that works until the water is up to temp. One bad point is that you have to tell the taxman and pay 27.1 pence a litre in tax that is payed after you have used it and its upto you do decleare the ammount used.

And the disco runs great

I have not had any loss of power not that it had much in the first place for an engine that done 170k, if you ring your local tax office they will send you the relevent forms you fill them in send them back they will then they will send you a form to fill out every month to declare how much veg oil you have used and a cheque to cover the ammount at 27.1p per litre.

Veg oil in A*da 0.49 pence a litre plus the taxmans 27.1p= 76p
At the pumps 0.96-0.99 per litre
Save 20 pence per litre

The kits range from 450 upwards
