Hi Guys,

First post on here, but have been lurking for a little while.

I'm trying to find out where the water is coming from through the front of the Disco. After some rain the front headlining gets soaked. I've had a look at the sunroof but can't see anything obvious. I've dropped most of the headlining down, but can't see these drain pipes that people are always mentioning.

Please can someone help with some (Detailed if poss) instructions on where the drain pipes are and how to clean them and stop the leaks - please!!!!

It is a 2001MY X reg TD5 ES.

Many thanks and really appreciate any help!

Cheers

James

Try here matey, http://homepage.virgin.net/mark.hopkins2/WaterIngress.htm

It's more topical for earlier models TBH but I'm sure it will be topical for your vehicle as there is a section on sunroof and windscreen seals.;)

Thanks for that, had already come across that site - it's very useful, although slightly technical!!

I still have no idea from those sheets where these blasted drain tubes are and what they look like!?!? - unless of course I am missing something.

Please help, it's getting wet in here!

The drain tubes are on the left side of the sunroof one at the forward end and one at the rear.(only if you have a sunroof that you have to wind (I think looking at the diagrams).
I have not had the pleasure of having to do do this as I do not have a "winder or driven" sunroof !.
My guess is that they are probably black or white tubing 4 to 5 mm in diameter.

On the diagram they are items 17 and 18:)

Well i had the same problem with my 2002 Disco i had been into landrover 4 times to get it resolved but with no joy.Over the winter i had a stone chip and the windscreen was needing replaced the autoglass guys say it was a badly fitted seal that was causing the leak

been 3 months now all is fine

Thanks for all the posts guys.

Have dropped down the headlining again tonight, and this time could clearly see the tubes. I had a feel off them, and it seems there is no blockage there ands could hear the water passing through them.

Anyway with the lining down, I decided to pour a load of water over the roof to try to see what happens....

Guess what - nothing. It took ages and gallons of water for anything to come through, and eventually it came in from the windscreen seal at the top of the screen. It has been replaced at some point, but it would appear that it hasn't been re-fitted correctly and re-sealed.

If the whole tub of silicone I put around the windscreen doesn't stop the water coming in I may have to try to drive into the path of some accurately placed stones that may find their way onto the screen at high velocity!

For anyone's interest I sealed the window rubber on the outside, and also where the bonding is at the top of the screen inside.

Bloody annoying though!!

Bl**dy leaks...

I thought mine was fully watertight after a number of warranty fixes. Now the warranty's run out I've found a large puddle under the kiddie seats...I've been assured it's not the kids who are responsible!! ;)

I suspect either the alpine light or the roof gutter...another job on the list :(

HI, i had the same leak. One in the front from the screen and the second from the top/roof windows. I followed a recomendation of a classic car restorer i know and he told me to use Creeping crack cure. AMAZING no more water apart from outside that is.. Cant recommend this stuff enough. Its a very fine water based silicone but seeks out the minute cracks and fills them, dries clear..

I managed to get 2 bottles for £5.00 inc postage of Ebay..
