I have a Disco I 3.9 v8i. When cold it starts first time, enough power and good throttle response, but when you drive and it gets up to operating temp it gets a flat spot at pull off. When you switch it off it struggles to start, the only way to get it started it to wind the starter motor for about a minute with the throttle fully open or leave it for a few minutes whereafter to whole process repeats itself.

Whe have changed the coil, ignition module, coil wire, engine temp sensor, air flow meter, check for voltage at coil when cranking, all seems to be ok.

Does any body have an idea wat else it could be. (PS. Vehicle not fitted with imobiliser) :(

Hi,

sounds like a very annoying problem.

Have you tried fitting a new fuel filter?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have fitted a new fuel filter and checked the fuel pressure. It seems to be overfueling only when hot, because when you get it started it stutters and smokes like a diesel.

1/. Air Filter element is dirty or clogged.
2/.(and hopefully not !)....Low Cylinder compressions
3/.Ignition timing may be incorrect !

Now failing that if the engine hesitstes on acceleration you might have a Vaccuum leak at the Carburettor, inlet manifold and or any of the hoses associated with it !

I'd prefer number 1 above but it may be the Vaccuum leak at the inlet side of the engine !

Hope you get it sorted !!:)
