Has anyone tried or does anyone have experience of any TD4 tuning companies.

I know of Van Akean (sp?) and JE Engineering.

But i would like to know if anyone has tried these (don't need to cut into the loom) performance modules and whether they needed a 4wd rolling road/dyno to get setup, also what effects it had on fuel consumption.

My 02 MY TD4 already has a K&N and seems to have turned round some excellent economy figures despite being flown down a French motorway at 95+ mph

Thanks

Russ

PS, this Smily is just so cool, it had to be used :band: :D:D:D

I _think_ a friend of mine writes a lot of the chip mods for JE .. I've just mailed him about the TD4 one to see if he has any extra info, may have that even if he didn't write it.

I know he did their TD5 as he told me how they did it .. and it didn't involve a rolling road ! basically an expensive ICE (in-circuit-emulator) for the ECU chip and altering the values by hand over a series of timed runs up a hill. A lot of R&D went into it as he's a real perfectionist :) it's a real transformation on the TD5 apparently ..

I'll let you know if he has anything about the TD4 chip.

Simon.

Just got a mail back from him .. he didn't actually do the TD4 himself, but knows it's pretty damn good and is going to find out what info he can about it for me. I'll post anything he sends back.

He does have info on the Bosch unit in my L series engined Freebie though, so I'm going to see if we can't work out how to chip it on the cheap :)

Cheers, Si

Nice one :D
Is the JE module a simple plug 'in-line to the ecu' module or is it a 'splice wires, get in a mess and generally swear a lot' kind of job?

Apparently the JE upgrade is an installation they do on your existing ECU, the security and HDC integration goes wrong if you start messing with the looms and swapped ECUs etc.

It's highly recommended though.
