I've always found that genuine pads are far quieter than anything else you can buy.

...and use copper grease. Tends to dampen down the rattle.

used c/slip but they rattle for fun. the wear in the caliper is quite a lot you can physicaly move the pad up and down. alan........

have not heard abt caliper wearing out. do you mean the rotor is worn out or pads worn out? if your pads are lose between the rotor and piston, then probably the piston is sticky due to corrosion and dirt, and therefore cannot "firmly" push the pad to the rotor face. you need to service the caliper. if the pads are really thinned out, chg them.

I think you will have to fork out your hard earned for a new set of pads, bilge me old son.
I reckon the pad backing plates are worn.
You could always stick a couple of blobs of weld on the edges then grind it off to create a tighter fit....As the actress said to the blacksmith;)

I have an idea I have a set of part worn pads here, if I have you can try the back plates to see if the are the same.
That's if we can get them over to you, it would be cheaper to buy a new set, than deliver them:eek:

cheers for that, i know your right , but moneys are a little tight so am i come to that. new pads may help but plenty of friction on the old ones, just wondered iff there was a different sort of rattle spring off something else that may work more than the silly springs landy use. the 200 is a more better design of caliper iff you ask me. welding a little on may do the trick. speaking of which you want to see the tool i welded up for torqing up the front crank pulley. (just done me cam belt) brill bit of kit .cheers alan....
