I've been doing some off-road driving in my 1998 Discovery I 3.9L and was wondering if anyone has any specifics of exactly how far I can lean the thing before she'll start to tip over. I was thinking somewhere around the 30 degree range, but that's just a guess on my part. I've taken her up and down some pretty steep inclines, but side roll, that's a whole nother ball of wax.

Traversing side slopes is best avoided in any 4x4, but if you have to and it begins to goe pear shaped, steer downhill quickly. If its a well used track then you should be ok, as long as you don't have jerrycans, jacks & tyres on the roof.

Am not sure about a disco, but I have had my 90 tipping to the stage that I had to lean the opposite way to stop it from rolling, it was even being filmed at the time from behind, didn't do it on purpose and didn't know the camera was on me, I watched the film and you can actually watch the vehicle tip then just as it reaches a clear 45 degrees you can see me lean, so it was just in the nik of time. It was a silly thing to do, and all down to driver error, I'll put my hands up to that. Like said if you don't have too much weight too high on your vehicle you'll probably do better than if you did, I would say you could probably get a good 40 degrees in a standard disco, I haven't nearly rolled my disco yet, and hopefully I never will!
Moral of the story, don't push it, if it looks like too much of a side angle it probably is!
