Hi Guys,

I am now a proud, err husband of the wife who has got a discovery.Well infact, I bought her it for her birthday, so I can have some fun as well.

The question is, Tornado chip is it as good as they say?
Does anyone have any experience?
Where does one have it fitted, I live in Cawood, near York?

So, please free to give your comments.

Wife will do about 10,000 per year and so LPG might be too expensive.

I am open to all comments.

When I had the TD5 I didn't bother getting it chipped, I know there are some members who have had it done and it sounds worth while for the extra power.

Welcome to the forum Ray, you are probably in the right place. There's loads of people on here who know what they are talking about, so I'll leave the 'chippery' to them. Except to say I'm with Graham so far. My TD5 goes far better than I'd feared it would, coming straight from a modern 'ordinary' mundaneo type car.

Its all done on torque, not power. Put the hammer down and all that happens is the growl gets deeper. I find the principle is; 'Growl gets deeper - wheels go faster.' Everything you need to do with it, is done between 2250rpm and 3000 rpm (and that's over ninety!) on an automatic.

It is also far more capable off road in standard form than I - as an off roading virgin - could have imagined.

Roger.

I'm a bit lost. What model Disco do you have and what fuel does it use? Isn't Tornado a make of performance exhaust rather than a "chip"?

Cheers all for the replies.

To clarify. The Land Rover is a 1995, Discovery V8 petrol, of which is why I am looking at improoving its mpg.

The Tornado Chip, as far as I have read is made by RPI and after re-mapping of the engine management improoves efficiency of the V8 tremendously. I would pressume that if that was the case however, more people would know about it. I found the information on the internet by accident, an article aboy TVR's using the V8. The article also then confirmed that the chip was ideal for landrovers and other Rover V8's.

Any way, I am going to have a go with it and see what happens.

Keep you all informed.

By the way, where is the best place for the odd cosmetic trim, the sunroof blinds have lost their retainers.?
