GCTR7N My local cache I placed about 20mins from home. Walked by it last night and its gone.

It was unlikely to have been a chance find, as it was a plastic box wrapped in scrim and 'buried' in a beech tree and covered by log and loads of dead leaves, not easily spotted and away from the path.

So some toe rag has knicked it for what purpose? A £2 plastic box, notebook and assorted trinkets, plus a travelbug I'd recently placed. They left the scrim wrapped round a log and placed back in the hiding place, so their intention is just to mess it up.

Why check geocaching site and intentionally find it to steal it? I don't get it. I could understand an eco warrier finding it by accident and thinking it was rubbish and ruining the environment, but i don't think they would have left the scrim.

Why?

It may have been that the last cache finder was seen by a muggle.....

Maybe, but they should have posted their actions if they removed it.

Have any other caches gone missing in the near vicinity Rob?

Like vandalism and many other things there's no reason at all for these mindless actions.

Sympathies Rob, my first cache went, they too took the box, the trades, the geocaching leaflet and the log book yet left the pencil and sharpener and some foreign coins in a plastic bag behind. I replaced it with a 35mm film can micro with just a log book and that disappeared entirely :(. There's no understanding some people actions.

This whole cache thing.........
Has anybody thought about the term "suspicious package"?

swagThere have been cases, that's why there are guidelines to the placing of the caches.

Seems like a rather strange hobby, travelling round and intentionally approaching "suspicious packages".
Their are people that get paid to do that..

So if I wanted to plant a bomb, if I use these caching guidlines presumably everyone will just think it's a cache?
