TFT / LCD screen for laptop

I want to be able to use my laptop in the Land Rover so I can run my mapping software. I would like a small TFT/LCD Screen mounted on the dash and I plan to put the laptop put of harms way. My question is what type of screen do I need so it will run off the normal monitor connection like you get on the back of PC and Laptops.
