if you read this it isn`t anything to do with landrover but our focus c-max ,today going up very step hill ,air con on full, down to second gear and the clutch starts slipping cars behind us getting close:confused: , then the car fills with burnt smell only for about 35 metres till at top of hill, car 1 year old with 5200miles on it and apart from that today it is a great family car,my question is ?is the clutch now damaged ?as it over heated with the weather?is the clutch now damaged? is this considered a wear and tear item(i have to pay) or will it be ok if it drives ok in the morning, never had this happen in any car before ever, so got me thinking?

If it only has that mileage, take it to the Dealer.
Dual mass flywheel comes to mind. If it has one (Dave Hughes?) which it probably does, it will have damaged the bearing with the excess heat. Listen for noises when you press the clutch. It should be under the Warranty, unless they can prove you have been driving around with your foot on the pedal.

Yes it does.
Rest your foot lightly on the clutch pedal and see if you can feel the clutch slightly "juddering". If you can then you have a flywheel problem.
If it feels/sounds ok, be aware of the previous occasion, and if it happens again get it to a dealer under warranty. They have a few dual-mass problems so most likely won't argue the toss.

I would still take it in and get them to check it. As it will be logged in the system that you asked them to inspect it, if it needs attention in the future, you will have proof.
Dave has had a lot more experience with DM flywheels than me, I have only changed about a dozen, Dave does more than that on Fords in 6 months.

Wise words.
Fib a little bit and say it has happened a couple of times!
If it was slipping/smelling then you most likely have caused minor premature wear at the least, so worth getting it in the system now.
