Well my piece of rubbish got me down to and around Morocco, half of which was off road including parts of the 2004 Paris Dakar route. Infact of the 10 Landies that did the trip, only the two Freelanders had no breakdowns or engine issues.

Whats wrong with ya man!! They are rubbish cars and the new one will be worse!!Well to be honest if you logically compare most Land Rovers to the japanese competition they are pretty much all rubbish! BUT rubbish with character and style and thats why we love 'em :) For the life of me I still cant explain why I still crave after a noisey, leaky, pain in the ar$e Defender 110....but I still do and if I had the money would buy one without batting and eyelid...its all very bizarre  :derr:

I like the new freelander, when you look at the old and new side to side I think they are very similar....though I do prefer the lines of the old one and a tyre on the back is a must in my opinion!

Hi all,
Have to agree with Mike on the spare wheel. On a vehicle with LR on the bonnet (or grill) and the oval on the tail, the spare HAS to be on the tailend or the bonnet.

Have to say its my First Freelander and I love it. It gets my wife and son around well and I can take it to work and get it dirty when I want too
My wife is from the States and thinks its the best 4x4 she has ever had.
And she's a Texan.

Well instead of getting underneath them, take a TD4 and go somewhere with one (not a 1.8 admittedly). ;)

I've seen what they can do...and driven one around our off road track at work. But then again i've seen people struggle with defenders (and RR's) through it!!
