Landmark 2004 TD5 Manual
------------------------
over the last 2 nights the Alarm has gone of for no apparant reason. after about half an hour of locking the car the alram goes off, resetting it than about half an hour later it goes offf again. After ressetting for 3rd time everything ok all night.
all windows doors and sunroofs are properly shut and i have no clue as to the reason why it is going off. Is this a common problem? any simple solution?
any ideas well received before my neighbours kill me..:)

Probably a long shot, but this reminds me of a trick used by car thieves - rock the car and set the alarm off two or three times, till the owner gets fed up with it and decides not to set it - then they nick the car

Thanks Bernie , i thought that on the first night , but the second night i was at the inlaws house and same thing happened, so unless 2 seprate sets of thieves i think it is something different:(

Ah no well that's a relief then :)
Not sure if yours is the same as my 2001 d2, but try locking the door with the key so that the internal sensors aren't armed, to see if its something to do with heat or wind or a huge landy spider

If you have it put on Testbook,it should show the last 4 or 5 trigger buffers - ie what set the alarm off. This way you will be able to pinpoint the cause quickly and not tee all the neighbours off !!

Do your door locks work?

Try shuting all the air vents.
Also, get a battery test carried out, when the temp drops a poor batteries voltage can drop also, the alarms see's it as a door open (int light coming on and causing a v.drop) hence it goes off.

I've had this recently on my 300tdi, which may have a completely different alarm system to yours I'm not sure. For about three nights the alarm went off for no apparent reason, sometimes more than once per night. Then all of a sudden it stopped and now works perfectly again.
My theory is that there was a spider somewhere in there or some other form of insect which was setting it off all the time. IR sensors will detect small insects if they pass close enough to them - my outdoor security camera has this trouble quite a lot where a spider will make a web across the camera, which sets off the recording system all night.

My RRC 300 Tdi shares a great deal with your Discovery. I had this problem, which turned out to be damp in the internal sensor unit. I disconnected it until a replacement arrived. The alarm still works on the door and bonnet sensors, but will not be triggered by a broken window without the the internal sensor.

We have 4 vehicles currently that use that same volumetric sensor - guess what ? - They are all disconnected, they are even worse in Defenders with all that water sloshing around !

That's useful to know. I might see if I can get mine out then and dry it out, although it hasn't caused me a problem for ages now.
Where's the internal sensor unit located? Are you on about the actual sensors themselves? I couldn't imagine damp getting into those?? Unless of course you've got a sunroof...

I'd go with the small insect theory. Mine has done this and I find a quick spray with insect killer stops the alarm from going off more than once.

i havn't had the problem now since i first posted here, i had the alarm going off 2 nights on the trot and now nothing for 2 weeks, i guess it must have been a fly or something locked in the vehicle. ??
thanks for everyone views has been very helpful as usual
enjoy the rest of the summer;)

My 300tdi Disco's alarm kept going off at about 2.30am for two or three nights during the heatwave. Someone suggested that as the car cooled down, the internal air pressure changed causing the sensor to trigger. I had to lock the car on the key to disable the sensor and that did the trick. Since the hot weather's gone, there's no more problems.
