What about your warrantee? Presume you got a 3 year one which unfortunately ties you to LR main dealers or other specialists who do the full LR approved servicing. Expensive but the warrantee is a major plus especially as the vehicle is 'maturing'.

Yeh still under warranty landrover(james edwards chester) quoted £540 24,000 mile service asked if i could take to another garage so long as they did it to landrovers specs they said fine .Took it to an independant service senter for 4x4's landrovers espacially. They did the service but only a £12000 mile service by accident they stamped my book and said they would note it as having a £24000 mile service. The only things they didn't change were the transfer box oil, gearbox oil ,brake fluid and fuel filter.I changed the fuel filter myself took 5 minutes, gearbox oil was changed a few months ago as i have a notchy second gear change from cold.Only need to change brake fluid a transfer box oil now.ar has only done 12000 miles in two years. Will change transfer box oil soon but just need to no which is the best oil to do this.I am not impressed with my main dealer for servicing , seem to overprice my friend had a td6 range rover vogue they wanted £540 to change the brake pads ,they wern't even wor than bad.

Notchy 1st-2nd gear is normal for Discos, especially when cold. Cured mine by replacing the oil with Difflock's Evolution stuff. It's worth every penny. Just don't tell LR as they will not honour the warranty, even though the oil far exceeds their spec.

I've used Millers oil for the past 10+ years on all my vehicles. Never had a problem, and it's good value. I'd recommend 5w30 if you don't cane her, or change oil more regularly than LR recommend. 5w40 otherwise.
