hi all,

just wondering if someone can point me in the right direction here?
my '52 plate td5 disco has developed an annoying fault, when i come to start it up, it struggles to fire,it's as if it is misfiring,it only lasts for a few seconds then clears itself and runs ok,only seems to happen when it has been standing for any length of time, the longer it has stood the worse the fault seems to be,could it be the start of something nasty? it was a brand new engine last year, and has only done 5000 miles!! i would appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this for me.

many thanks,

Have you checked all along your fuel pipes for leaks? - if fuel can get out then air will get in and allow the fuel to run back to the tank. The longer you leave it the more air will get in and so it'll take longer to clear itself when it starts.

Also keep an eye on your engine oil level. The injectors are fed with fuel through the head and internal fuel leakage is supprisingly common on these engines. If your engine oil is getting higher it may be getting diluted with diesel.

thanks for the idea, somewere in the back of my mind, was there a recall for the fuel line chafing,? over the rear crossmember? you could be onto something there, i shall 'ave a look in the morning, many thanks.
