Hi,
Does anyone know where I can take (or preferably a company that will come to me ) my disco to have the windows blackened B post backwards.
I have purchased various sun shades to keep the glare off the little one in the back but the sun always manages to get her
I have managed to get in contact with a couple of places but none of them will come to Birmingham.
I am located about 5 mins away from Birmingham airport.
Your help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

I know a place called RPB Valetting in Bedford, but it might be a bit far.

I can recommend a very good place in Kettering and another in Corby. They don't like doing mobile because you need a clean, dust free environment to do it.

It's very easy to do! I bought a roll for GBP 30 quid and did the Disco in a few hours.
Plenty of window cleaner and patience is all thats needed. A helping hand can also be benificial for holding up the sheets before the wipe down.

Hmmm I've also been thinking about tinting my windows because I carry a lot of equipment around with me, but I had decided not to do it myself. You lot are saying it's fairly easy as long as you have patience and are careful, so I might give it a go as well!
I thought you had to take the windows out to do it properly, and I can imagine the roof windows being a right pain in the backside...

Might want to make sure what you plan to do is legal. There was a good discussion of this on here a few weeks ago I recall.

If you want a first class job get Pentagon Glass-Tech to do it for you. I'm on my second Disco which they have tinted and have had no problems with either. It seems to me to be one of those jobs best left to the experts!
There are rules and norms for how dark the windows can be but Pentagon can advise you.

They wanted almost £225 to do the three back windows on my 90
Local [very good] company in Ottershaw did it for a one'er :)
After paying a ridiculous amount to get mine done and seeing how they did it, I'd have done it all myself. I did do the alpine windows myself.
A dust free environment would be ideal but inside my garage was fine. If you do get a dust particle under the film you can see it straight away so it can be removed before curing.
Tools required;
Hard rubber window wiper.
Spay bottle for mild soapy solution
Stanly knife
Felt pen
Soft cloth

I've decided to do mine myself but the insulation rubbers around my rear windows and the door window are splitting so I ordered some replacements with Bearmachs. If I'm going to have the hassle of taking the windows out, may as well sort the rubber problem out as well eh?
They came in today but at £78 for the three they're not cheap!!!
I'll be having a crack at the tinting on the weekend if it's dry. Will let you all know how I get on.

Good luck!
Before you start, stick some tape on the outside of each window to avoid the stupid, irritating and almost certain mistake of sticking the film to the wrong side. Label the side windows with left/right and top/bottom marks before removing them too, so you know which way to refit them.

Do you know what, that's such an obvious mistake to make but I hadn't actually considered it. Thanks for the tip, I'll make sure to do that!!!

I did mine my self. Its dark enough to keep the sun out, but not too dark that you cant see out. I did the side and rear but not the front. I want to get a lighter tint for the front. Other than that i think it looks good too.

Ok I decided to get started on my rear windows today... but arrrrrgh it's all gone horribly wrong!!!
It was a nice fine day so I got started taking the rear side windows out. The old rubber insulation was knackered so I just cut it and slid the windows out. I got started on the tinting and made a couple of early ****-ups, but once I'd learned the technique I got both windows tinted and it looked pretty good - I was impressed!
Unfortunately, as soon as I'd taken the windows out the black clouds came over almost as if by magic and DOWN came the rain. I just couldn't believe what I was seeing!
I thought, ahhh just a shower. It'll pass. But nope, it got worse and worse. Of course, I was out there trying to get the windows back in and it just wasn't happening, I couldn't get the rubber and the window to fit properly. At the same time I was getting absolutely drenched, it was getting dark, and with that I gave up and took the window back out.
I'm going to have to retint the first window now because where I struggled so much it started to come off and it's ruined it.
So, hope the weather is much better tomorrow otherwise I think I'm gonna have to take her to a garage and ask them to fit the windows back in for me. We're going on holiday Monday so I really can't string this one out.
WHY did it have to rain?! It was such a nice fine day!!!
