Disco alarm+spider

Hi, I have a 3.9 ES disco which was first registered in 94 on an M plate. I was wandering today if it had the spider fitted(imobiliser) so tested it. I locked it with the keyfob then opend the boot, alarm sounded with flashing lights, climbed into the drivers seat and tried to start it, it was totally dead. So does this mean i have an imobiliser? I thought the spider was put on from 95.

it does sound like it . cuts the crancking and fuell pump circuit, there is a good thread on it somewhere. alan.....

Does your fob have one or two buttons ?

It has one button.

Then you dont have a spider,from memory the single button theft alarm unit only inhibits cranking - not sparks or fuel.
