The soon-to-be-sandbag has decreed that she would not object to a Freelander joining the fleet.

So, not wanting her to change her mind, i am having a look at different models.

My 1st choice would probably by a Td4, but with a budget of around £11k, it is unlikely that I will find a good one. So plan B is a 1.8 and LPG - has anyone got a 1.8 Freeby running on gas?

Any ideas welcome.

The 1.8 in the Rover 75 converts well to LPG, heard of a couple. Should have no problems with the Freebie. With a modified rear exhaust a 100 litre cylinder tank (cheaper than donut shapes) will go under the rear without comprimising ground clearance at all.

However the benefits are looking likely to be reduced over the next year or so, and personally I've gone for a diesel. Buying private I got an early XEDi car for only 8k .. and after 1.5k miles around France in the last 2 weeks I'm more than happy ;-)

Don't buy from LR dealers though .. my local one has almost exactly my car for 11.5k pounds ! and I got roof-bars etc all included too.

LPG is good and I can't see the cost going up much after all the money that the petrol companies have put into it. I won't comment on the Floda 1.8 for obvious reasons.:hahaha:
