Well vegetable, it is some kind of wild corgette. Spikey fruit that are as long as my thumb and a little fatter. When the fruit is ripe it drop from the stem, the liquid inside is under pressure and so squirts 2m out with the seeds in tow. It is poisonous, and so I pressume it has developed this method through not being eaten. Quite decorative, even if odd.

It's Ecballium elaterium, the squirting cucumber. The poison is called elaterium and although it has been used medicaly for over 2,000 years, it is not the safest of herbals:eek: If I remember correctly it has it's own personal pest control service in a ladybird that spends it's entire life on the plant.
