have you checked that the switch on the light (assuming that your mean the front light, between the sun visors) is off.
IIRC they are a two position switch on, and timed delay. if accidentally put to on, they stay on.
Have done this myself a couple of times :D

Looking at the electrical troubleshooting manual, the door switches and interior lights all seem to fetch up at a 'multi-function unit Z148' - see attached pic. They all come in through connector C205. I would guess the problem is in there somewhere

Yep I should think so. Just a couple of thoughts ...
The lights are meeant to stay on for 15 seconds after the doors are closed, but presumably you mean they stay on for longer than that, ie they never go out? They are meant to go out after 8 mins if left on to avoid battery drain.
I wonder if there is a fault in the switch itself, so that it is stuck in the 'always on' position even when you switch it to 'on when doors open.' Might be worth having a quick look inside the lamp and switch, check the wiring and connections, first?

hi bernie ive checked the switch and it seems ok ive also had to remove the bulbs in the rear and boot space as well this problem only arised a few days a go after a very heavy down pour so i think its damp that has caused this problem ill give the eight minute cycle a go and see if they shut off then ,if not ill look at that z148 box and see if its got damp thanks bob
