pherhaps you lot can help?

Being as i never asked or read amazingley..

Chokes....this one comes with four:

Constriction Pattern percentige

cylinder skeet 0- 12mm 40 - 50%
improved cylinder 0 -25mm 57%
modified 0 - 50mm 67%
improved modified 0 - 75mm 73%
full 0 -1.0mm 75%

Now i know that tighter pattern of shot at full and also assume chances of hitting object are less but more effective at killing?

So i assume cylinder skeet would be more spread out shot etc???

constriction ???
strangle the misses??????????????

sorry fo being thick just never learnt?

Always prefer the ones with shorter barrels myself. The longer barrels are a bit unwieldy when you point them over the counter.

Think I might be right and stand to be corrected

cylinder skeet 0- 12mm 40 - 50% -Similar to true cylinder. gives wide shot pattern
improved cylinder 0 -25mm 57% -1/4 choke usual for walked up game
modified 0 - 50mm 67% -1/2 choke. Walked up game at a distance, driven game
improved modified 0 - 75mm 73% - 3/4 choke. only suitable for longer shots unless you like the taste of lead shot!
full 0 -1.0mm 75% - Full choke. With magnum cartridges you can be knocking a goose out of the sky for christmas dinner.

Try the various chokes on different targets. Heavy duty lining paper stuck to plywood makes an effective pattern plate. If you intend eating what you shoot then you want to make sure that you kill your prey with as little shot as possible.

As an aside, our American cousins market a similar pump action with full choke with the name of "Home Security" Now that is a trend from over the pond that I could put up with

Chokes are made to hook the buyer, not improve the gun
For pigeon, improved cylinder will cover ALL your needs.
Stick the rest in a drawer and forget about them ;)

Personally, i have nver been keen on the pumps for myself,

same here, I had a Yoeman 12G side by side, quite an old gun, that would sometimes lock on frosty mornings, but bagged quite a few bunnies with it.

Apart from trawling the adverts in Shooting Times or Sporting Shooter why not make your own. Mine is made from a load of cammo netting from the army surplus store, a few proper telescopic poles and some hazel poles coppiced from one of my trees. Easy to adapt to the surroundings.

Can't say I'm a fan of automatics, can't tell at a glance if it's loaded or not.

Just out of interest for reference, the USA online store SierraTradingpost has a hunting section for cheap quality gear. They ship most items to the uk without outrangous prices (knifes/weapons and such like can not be sold to uk).

We have bought from them a few times before without fault. You do have to pay customs duty on delivery (or a few weeks later) but even then some products work out almost half the price of that in the UK, esp with the weak dollar rate at moment.
For example I am looking to replace my boots, pair of scarpa in local store here is 159 quid, in sierra trading they are something like 47 uk pounds, even with shipping and duty still way less than UK (shame they didn't have my bloody size though).

Gasp - 12 shots in under 2 seconds ! I suppose it saves working out the lead - do you just hose an appropriate area of the sky in front of the clay ?

You need to try IC over here on wild turkeys then! :D I'm not a real fan of them but interchangable chokes do serve their purpose over here. Personally I'd prefer to have interchangable guns though... ;)

Same hear. You can get to caught up in worrying about chokes. I dont mean to offend, but i hate it at clay shoots where the bloke in front is messing about changeing chokes for the stand. Only reason to change would to shoot steel.
They do improve the re-sale value tho.
