Has anyone fitted one? If so HTF did you do it? The screws that come with it wont bit into the plastic and there is no room to really lean on them due to the windscreen :(

Did this one some time back but here goes:
The screws you get with the job are about half an inch too short. Get longer screws and make sure they have a decent sharp self tapping point. Torqs heads are perfect for this as the bit doesn't usually slip out when turning.
Also use a driver bit in a socket, driven by an air ratchet. This is the only thing that will go in due to the angle of the windscreen.
Thirdly, the instrument binnacle on a 300Tdi, will require removing and part of the corner dressing back to avoid fouling the new trims.
If you're not happy with anything about your windscreen, cracked, chipped etc. and have been meaning to have it replaced.....eventually, then now is the time to do it because the amount of hassle that fitting these trims involves that would be spared if the screen was out, is very probably worthwhile! ! !
I managed mine with the screen in place, but it's a real pain in the bum!!!

is it not possilbe to drill a small pilot hole with a dremel with/without flexi attachment??
Our black disco needs the dash repair kit doing at some point, so don't really not what is involved as yet.

I fitted mine a few years ago using a screwdriver with a flexible shaft similar to the following:

Worked fine for me....

Why do the dashboards need repairing? The old Classic ones didn't, to the best of my knowledge I've never seen one cracked. Worrying.

Why do the dashboards need repairing?
Because, the dash boards fitted to some models had a vinyl type covering bonded to them that was stuck down with adhesive that was not tolerant of UV light. This meant that the covering lifted and a condition known to affected Discovery owners as "peeling dashboard syndrome" was born.;)

Mostly the early 300's, 1994 to about 1996 had the problem.
I had mine replaced under warrenty, thanks to BBC Watchdog!! :D
So many people complained to Land Rover and they just said it was ware & tare. So they all complained to Watchdog and Land Rover gave in to the bad publicity and agreed to replace under warrenty (in the UK only) for about a year. ;)
The only option now is the D44 kit or a new dash.

We had a 1996 Discovery with this problem.
I heated the dashboard-top up with a hot air paint stripper and superglued it back down.
A year later,when we sold it,it hadn't moved.
Regards,
Nick.
