It does look vaguely familiar, but I can't remember where I've seen the little tinkers.

Is it a FIAT Campagnolo?

You win yesterday's pasta :yay:

It is in fact the Fiat Campagnolo BZ. The later versions used the bog-standard Fiat straight four 2000 petrol aswell as a 2.5 V8 diesel, whilst the earlier versions used a 1.9 petrol.

I'm curious to know if the Abarth modifications that were done to the Fiat Strada of the early eighties could be done to this beastlet.
The Strada TC produced (I believe) 107bhp, with twin overhead Cams.
The Lancia HPE VX (or volumex) used the same 2000cc engine but had a Roots Blower (supercharger) added producing 137bhp at a time when the turbo reigned, the difference being that the blower gave 40% more power throughout the rev range enabling the car to do 0-100mph in just 24 seconds.

Here is a picture of what the Carabinieri (heavy duty Italian police) used and what they now use instead...

I think I read somewhere that the Italian Police have 2.5 fuel injection engines in their defenders. I wonder if the head would fit a 2.25??

Interestingly enough, the original Campagnolo was first made in 1951 and was based around the Willis jeep.
The Campagnolo, has been used by many of the ermergency services around the world here is a German Fire version...
