hi, can anyone give me a rough idea, of the effects on fuel economy that a large roofbox would have. i have a disco 1 v8 lpg. i get 15 mpg at a steady 70mph, but what can i expect with a roofbox on?

does anyone know if it's more economical to tow a small trailer or mount a roofbox.
i realise that there no set answers, just after peoples experiences

thanks

Have both roof rack and trailer

I find trailer more economic plus you can get under all those height barriers

depends on you needs space required etc trailers have come down in price in recent years great if you own a house for rubbish removal, etc.

Good for camping as well but hopeless for greenlaning & wild camping hence why I still keep a roof rack

Get one you can get on/off quickly leaving a empty one on uses fuel

If you get a trailer and drive it offroad make sure that the trailer axle is the same width as the landys so that the trailer tyres follow the tracks already made by your landy so does'nt have to work so hard. When offroading, particularly in sand, it seems to save a bit on fuel economy - probably less wear on trailer bearings and suspension too.
