disco wiring

i have a disco mk1 0n a 94 plate the problem im have is the reversing lights didnt work ive put in new bulbs and then took to garage for reversing switch to be fitted which theyve done but the lights still dont work they said theres a wire with a plug on the end of it thats near the gearbox but cannot see where it plugs into as they think this wire has something to do with the lights
anyone got any ideas

the wires that go to the switch , 2 of them . iff you bridge the two together you should get a live to the rear lights. should have a live to one side of the switch with ign on and the other live when in reverse. you'll need a test light or meter . good look. quite simple fault to trace would have thought. surprised your garage couldn't sort it. alan.....

in the dark select reverse and hold the pressure on the gear stick.in mirror look if your reverse lights are on.take your hand off the stick and see if they go out this is common fault.
