Alarm ECU Disco 1

mornin all. Does anyone knoe where the ECU for the early model V8es disco 1 is located? thought it was under the steering wheel but had a look last night and only one there is the fuel injection ecu.

front passenger footwell pre 96. Under dash passenger side post 96. I assume it's the alarm ECU your on about.

must be going blind mate!. my 95 300 has it under the glove box on the far left panel but the v8 which is 94 dont have the glove box just a shelf and very few electrics. the alarm co said if the alarm's red led is on the instrument panel instead of under the radio then the ecu should be under the dash steering wheel!? wouldnt mind but it's not a tiny thing should be easy spotted! !

I gave up and went for a pint!:D

should be under the glove box with two large connectors going into it.

dont have a glove box just a panel that removes and behind that is a black metal plate with vents in it am I being stupid???

No mate. same in my older girl. nothing to exciting under the passanger side shelf except vents and bits. I did go thru some of the other posts and forums to see and on bloke mentioned it was BEHIND the fuse panel under the steering !?!? I'll probably get to have a look in the morning and I'll let ya know:)

If the V8 is a 200 series then you will probably find the Alarm ECU is on the Drivers side A post next to the pedals!!

Nice one mate. It is a 200-V8 . do ya reckon it'll swap with the 300?

I'm guessing but probably not. i believe that between the 200 to 300 they changed the Alarm from a Single Button to 2 Button key fob
I'm sure somebody will enlighten us all

Yeah but in my case I dont have the fob for the 300 and I'd have both the ecu and fob for the 200! half hopin the connections aren't that different!!!!!!!:eek: .

Am wondering if its been taken out would the ECU be any use if it was removed????

Bit confused there mate, do you mean if it was disconnected from the power would it be ok? I'd hope so cause I've had the battery out of the 200 for a month!!

simple job driving me mad cant seem to find the thing what I am begining to believe is that however had the car previously may have taken the ecu out?? I have all the sensors fitted but cant seem to find the ECU How big is this thing?? Imean is it matchbox size or shoebox size ?? sorry for being a complete simpleton :)

Ah! have ya now. the one in my 300 is about 2"x4" and it has a label on wit the frequency code for the fob. has 2 connections, one is a multiplug wit power etc, other a black sensor lead (like the aerial lead) haven't got out to my 200 yet to have a look behind the fuse board or where grieuclarke said behind the panel on the right of the pedals. will be in touch when I discover the elusive! Unfortunately its 6 nations w/end and mechanics take a back seat!!!! I'll be in Harrys bar in rosses point if anyone is looking for me!:p
