To my fellow Discovery drivers,
on Sunday I did my first longer drive with my 97 Discovery and it was excellent.
At the beginning of my search for a new car I was tempted to get myself a Nissan Terrano since I had one a while ago, but gladly I did not do that.
I made one strange observation at night though. The density of the instument light can not be changed. Is that right or am I just not finding th right nob?
Cheers and a splendid week

Good morning from Sunny Northumberland Glaserm :sunshine:
We are basking in what we call an Indian Summer here :yay:
On my 200Tdi Disco there is no dashboard dimmer switch...well if there is i have'nt found it yet ..:goofylook
It does'nt bother me as the light is just right for me.. :)
Did you get an owners manual with you Disco, it would describe and illustrate all the dashboard switches.....
If you didnt and you'd like one and cant get one let us know.
So glad you didnt get the Tarrano, maybe in time we can persuade you to also to get a series Land Rover as well as your Disco :smart:

Hi O/F,
ja right an series LR. I've heard that they don't even have a propper heating, .... but I doubt that's true. Could well be some day ... who knows.
I have an owners manual, thank you O/F. It's just that I'm sitting at my desk (and hiding again the real content of my screen) and the manual is in the car. Coming back yesterday late I actually forgot to look at the manual. I suppose the Disco does not have a nob same as your's. I really looked carefully.
Anyway thank's for the replay.
Regards from the sunny Vienna (10 degrees)

Dont believe all you hear glaserm , our series 2 chucks out loads of heat though i have to say the heater matrix is not the original series 2 type, I'm not a purist in these things so long as my old and aged feet are warm and toasty then i'm happy :yay:

It might chuck out loads of heat, but isn't most of it through the transmission tunnel? Mine was!

Hi Spotty :D
Actually the heater IS very good, but its not the original S2 heater.......but your right we also get loads of "additional hot air" through various "air inlets" :heheheheh
BTW would you happen to have a starter motor for a series 3 diesel 73 vintage :dunno1:

Hi OF, yes I've got a S3 diesel starter. I'll have to check that it's working OK.

I can offer you the deal of a lifetime. One only, not to be missed etc etc.
If the starter is OK you can have it for £25, or you can have the whole engine for £100. I've not had it running, but I was told it was good. It's totally complete as removed from the vehicle 2 weeks ago.
Owzat fer a bargain?
