What does members think of this rifle (http://www.superbows.co.uk/air-guns/air-rifles/b2-1-air-rifle-22-calibre/prod_2.html) and This scope (http://www.superbows.co.uk/air-guns/scopes-sights/6-x-40-rifle-scope-mounts/prod_95.html)
A good quality set up? I'm looking to purchase my first rifle after spending a fair time now using my mates rifles I'm thinking towards getting my own.
I'll be spending my time plinking in the garden, but i have the offer of going to a few sites for rabbit and pigeon.
I don't have all the money in the world and just need something to last me for a bit.
Cheers for the advice.

The B2 is a cheap, poor quality chinese mass produced thing.
They are, quite frankly.......... sh1te !!
Waste of time as an airgun, handy for knocking nails in though ;)
Can't tell if scope is any good owing to no name etc, but at £22, don't expect stunning quality.

Ahhh ok.
Any suggestions then. It has to be cheap though!
Why don't you get down to Dartmoor Marksmen (my old club) where there's always a decent second hand rifle going. Depending on the model, decent second hand rifles were going for between £175 - £1000.
The club's location is not advertised but I can supply you with an e-mail address to arrange a look round if you wish to join.
You won't get anything for £20 ish though. A £20 rifle may be ok for plinking in the garden but for hunting it's not fair on the quarry as you may maim and not kill it.

A 6x40 scope will be crap. There is a formula for working out optimum magnification and objective lens. Generally, a 2.5 x 32 scope will be great for plinking and general hunting and you need to spend a bit more on a rifle. The maxim of you pays your money.... rings true. Yes you get a cheap rifle but after a while of unbalanced gun and poor results you will think s0d it, it is a pain in the posterior. Blackpool airguns have some good deals

Hi.
Ok here we try again
I have been offerd a crossman rabbit stopper in return for my kayak. Now is this a better rifle for pigeons and i assume rabbits too. lol
You realise that it's CO2 powered?

i've just bought one of those B2's
it doesn't seem too bad, but i haven't fired it yet. you can tell its a cheap mass produced item. however the mechanics of it seem fairly solid if not amazing. the scope is ok, it's the first i've used but it is a definete improvement over open sights.
i didn't expect it to be great, i've got an old webley .22 and this gun seems very similar (possibly a copy?)
i've bought the .177 version as it had a higher exit velocity. I only use these guns for target practice, never for killing.
i paid £35 by the way and got the scope included.
Looks a bit like a HW35 are they cheaper copies?
I had a Rapid 7 for years, got it from Uttings with a 3.5x40 scope and a bi-pod that attatches to the air bottle on the front.
Probably the best combo I'm ever likely to use now SWMBO is a veggie:D

Yes. But after the comments on the B2 i guess this is better. lol.
Nope !
Runs from a little co2 canister, not very powerful. OK for rats, would not risk wounding a rabbit/pigeon with it.
Look on www.Uttings.com buy a proper rifle.
As a cheapie, may i suggest a BSA Supersport? good cheapish starter rifle.

Cheap!
Flipping eck. I thought that this would be a cheap part time hobby. Looks like the mountain bike is gonna have to go as well. if i'm to afford a something that will do the job. Might it be cheaper to buy an AK47 on the black market?
So let me guess i'm not going to get a good second hand value on the Crossman then should i want to sell it. :( It does come with a scope and silencer. Having not got it yet i cannot say what it is like.
PITA this is as where ever i look i get 50% saying yes and 50% no it is rubbish. And those saying no say spend 300 quid then it is decent.
Ok then. What about the webley omega? Views on this is? Let me guess Complete rubbish too.

Ohhh seems i'm in a right pickle as to what to do. Will i get much for a crossman should i sell it? Or maybe speak to a local shop and see whether they will do an exchange for a ok Spring rifle?
I'll prolly get the Webley as my little bro wants to start shooting.
MMMM what to do.
My mate's .22 Webley Omega is over 20 years old and still going strong. ;)

I've got a B2 and it's great if you want to shoot round corners;)
Well actually it's worse than Dave claims I had to put a scope on it as there was no way the open sites will adjust far enough over:rolleyes: could be just a duff one but it came from a car boot so no refund:(
I've also got a crossman ratcatcher great for plinking and rats in the garden but as said wouldn't want to try it on bunnies, I have something else I want to try on them see avitar.

don't get me wrong mate i don't expect it to be amazing. but surely if they've mis-sold me this rifle they will have to provide me with an 11.5ft/lb one ;)
(trying to get a better one without paying for it basically.... gotta love being a student!)
EDIT: really should has asked here before buying it.

Cometa 300s - mossy oak MAP
For £225 you'll not find much better IMO
And if you are hunting you need the right pellets too.

cant go wrong with that go for it the b2 however is crap a friend had it and it wont hit a bucket at 10m!!
for a scope go ags.

For a starter gun GET a springer. Once you learn to shoot with that then you can shoot with anything.
Just purchased a very nice BSA lightning. :)
