TBH, not sure about dogs there, I persoanlly wouldn't want to take one.

As for maps, buy a Michellin (sp) map, the tough unrippable waterproof one is best.

Enjoy.....

As far as we know it's relatively easy. We've met a few Germans who have taken theirs - and come back to tell the tale (tail?) - the dogs and the Germans.

If you are taking it out of France you will obviously have a pet passport which is a requirement throughout Europe now.

While you are in Spain - as you are obviously driving down - you might want to stock up on a few goodies from the pet shop. ie Program 200 or 400 (depending on the size of your dog) which kills off flea eggs (29€ per pack of 6 tablets or you can buy them individually), and Frontline drops, which kill off most fleas, sheep ticks, and piojos whatever they are (lice?)(34€ for 6 pipettes). You can also get Drontal Plus for worms. You don't need to buy any of these from a vet, most pet shops sell them I guess because Spanish aren't willing to pay vet bills.

You might want to consider a leishmaniasis collar too, they are about 20€ and last for 6 months. They also allegedly protect against fleas and ticks, but the drops are probably the best.

Klaus the German dosed his dogs with lots of goodies, so there may be others you can buy too! He also took dog food with him. His dogs looked pretty healthy to us. He spent about six months a year in North Africa.

The Spanish may well check your pet passport when you come back in, they didn't examine ours when we came out of Gib a few weeks back, but they did want to see we had it with us.

Thanks for that Adrianandkate....some useful info for sure....good point ref. the pet shop scenario instead of the vet`.....its a Pyrenean mountain dog(what else when living here??)so we`ll need to bring enough food to feed a small army too!!....

Let's see a pic of your dog then:) . Ours is a Spanish sheepdog who apparently comes from the montañas (don't know which ones there are that many in Spain:D ) and was junked off round here by someone who obviously got sick of him. Probably the hole in their food budget too.

If you need to know anything about the southern Spain end give us a shout or a PM.
