View Full Version : Fuel Pipe problem

About three weeks back I noticed a diesel leak developing over the fuel tank (01 td5). Booked it into the main dealers in the forlorn hope that it would be covered by a recall - but no outstanding service issues they said. So two weeks ago they confirmed I need new fuel lines over the tank.
BUT they were out of stock and on back order. When I spoke to them yesterday they're still out of stock and on back order, and I'm still waiting for them to find out when this situation will change.

I'm getting frustrated as I don't like going far with the car in this condition. Just wondered whether there's anything special about these pipes - and whether any non main dealer could just have made a set of pipes up on the spot?
Regards

Has one rubbed through as it goes over the tank? They are plastic, IIRC, I cut it and put a fuel hose and clips on ( he was on Holiday and wanted to get Home, one Saturday)

Chris I think something like that must have happened. The related recall was I think due to chafing against the abs or fuel sensor wiring, so I'll be interested to see what the parts look like.
Anyway the garage phoned today, seem to have found the part - I got the impression it had been there all the time but no-one had told the guys on the front desk - so it's booked in for wednesday.

Cheers
