View Full Version : Removal of Catalyst Converter on V8i

I have a Discovery V8i, Auto, Gas. It's legal in my country since we do not have an emission control system.

I was advised that removing the catalyst converter and replacing it with a straight-pipe would remove the back pressure and prevent my engine from overheating and my oil from leaking. On the other hand, I have several sensors on the catalyst converter. I am not sure if this will cause problems since these sensors are there to inform the computer of the amount of pressure in the system.

Does anyone have any insight of this? Would it cause my engine light to remain on? Would it help the system or harm the system? Would it cause me to burn more gas? Would it help to reduce head build-up to my engine?

Thanks in advance!
