(1)My front propshaft dropped while driving down the motorway after hearing some vibrations from the dash and gear lever. Could this affect other things or should I just get another propshaft and fit it back. I have never done this before though I do other bits myself. Where can I get a good replacement.
(2)Does anyone know of anyone who deals with Discos in Derby or closer. I want a through check done on the Disco before I take it abroad. Does anyone have any idea what sort of things I need to check as I want to export my disco to Kenya.
All help will be very much welcome.

Hi mate.
Hi Range on the a38 south of Burton (between Barton and Alrewas)
Midland 4x4 on the A444 at Overseal (near Swadlincote)
All Drive (somewhere in Swadlincote...Sun Street I think)
Don't have numbers for any of them but may be worth a try.
Hi range are a breakers and a garage so if you need any parts...
I would try Paddocks in Matlock for the prop shaft.
Did it actually break as you were driving or did the u/j's just fail and rattle about? If it actually snapped while you were driving I would look carefully underneath as it could have caused all sorts of trouble!

Yes it did break the forks that are tied to the UJs and I had to pick it on the road edge. What sort of trouble should I look for as I would like to do it myself in case I get the same problem later when I go abroad? Thanks for the places I could go to for spares. Would it be worth to get the propshaft from the breakers or should I go to Paddock spares( I've been there before) their website is quoting £60+.

Also try DLS in Wirksworth and Morley Motor Factors (Shaftsbury Street in Derby).. for price comparison.

Without looking I can't remember what is under the front that could have been affected by the propshat flailing about. I think brake pipes go along the top of the chassis rail so they should be ok. Just have a good look under there as any damage should be fairly obvious.
I think I would buy a new prop as a second hand one could need new u/j's or anything and will have wear. I told you about the breakers more for reference really as it is a good source of s/h parts fairly locally, and for the fact that they do repairs too.
All the best!:)

Thank you very much all for the help. I will go and buy the propshaft from Paddock Spares quoted £74 and fit it myself.
On a second thought is it a straight forward fitting or is there any alignment that need doing?

Straight forward job. The nuts can be a cow to get to but persevere and you will be fine.
Just be careful you dont drop it on your face when you are lying underneath trying to get it on! Ask Mungo how he felt when he did it! Not laughed so much for ages....it landed right on the bridge of his nose!:D

I did put a new propshaft over the weekend. Did a test run but discovered oil leaking from the front side of the transmission gear box. before fitting the new propshaft there were signs of leaking from the front and rear diffs as well as the trans gear box. Please help me. How can i fix these leaks? There is also some leaking from the steering box and I do not know what to touch there as well.
