1993 200tdi manual
Looked at the last post on a similar problem, but obviously not the same. Can anyone help or have any idea what my problem is, I suspect Gear or Transfer box?
This only happens under load (ie when climbing a hill), not on overrun. When engaging 5th gear at for instance 40mph, the wurwurring starts, at approx(very) 4 beats/sec and increases at about 1 beat/10mph as well as getting a bit louder. ie. 60mph/approx 6wurs/sec. It also happens in low box. Obviously, I do not normally engage 5th gear at 40mph, but tried it to listen.
Also, when engaging 5th, there has always been a medium/highish pitch whine.
I checked oil levels and transfer box need about 3pints, gear box was ok
