one of the first things I did Landy related was to strip down a series 3 bulkhead that Tim had picked up to use on the one that was being stripped down, hence the name, and before you all ask, I have never replaced one so don't ask questions:rolleyes:

Until I got a Landy I used to frequent a lot of Warez and Hacking forums, floyd fan name I used on them as I would be pointed in the direction of any Pink Floyd mp3's etc. I just used the same name here.

Took part in "Cannonball Run Europe", one of those slightly wreckless Euro-rally things aimed at braying upper class to$$pots in their dad's Ferrari (a category in to which I do NOT fall I hasten to add!)
In later conversation, was being described as "Not Bob A, not Bob B....you know.....Cannonball Bob"

Hmm - just used that and got 'Tad Whey In'

Mine's just a song title from my favourite album that can be used as a name. I could also have used The Digital Man or New World Man from the same album, or Cinderella Man by the same band, but the lyric in my signiture from Analog Kid seems quite in tune with the spirit of my move from the East Midlands to New Zealand.

A while ago, working in the suspension industry, I was trying to flog a handling kit to the driving gods who own modern little plastic and aluminium cars from Norfolk, you know, the ones which fall off the road due to gormless suspension geometry. Tongue in cheek, I called myself Gripper on their interwebby communities. It has kind of stuck:D

Oh, btw, I can still "arrange" improved handling, road holding and ride quality for all manner of cars.

Yes, that was what I liked about it...and the face on the squirrel in the background...Better to stay on the right side of big companies though, which is why I thought I had better remove it, brilliant as it was.

the 110 bit is really what everyone who knows me, associates me with driving.
The spanner bit is really obtuse, the wife calls me it regularly, probably a mild admonishment that she can get away with in front of the vicar. Anyway it sounds more friendly than ****er.

It brings a lump to my throat even now!

Gaynor

JimGNR
23rd Aug 2007, 09:05
Jim because my name is James but many people call me Jim, the GNR bit was the reg number of my first Series3 nothing to do with Guns'N'Roses but they used to be very popular when I was at Agricultural College.

For some bizarre reason I have the user name Jimmy on another forum, I organise a lot of events and meet a lot of people who all call me Jimmy which I don't really like!:o

Backs4more
23rd Aug 2007, 11:41
Backs4more started of as Backside 360, a name i used to use on a snowbaording site many years ago. Unfortuantly the Yanks on the site used to send PM's saying stuff like " You queer", "Fag" etc as I had the word Backside!! As many of you will know its a skateboard/snowboard trick.

I dissapeared off the site for a while and when i came back someone said "are you back for more"..hence Backs4more.

At the bikeclub everyone calls me Backs.

In the Army I was nicknamed Ghandi because of a footie match I played in. we were "skins" and I had just come back from Brunei so was a toasty brown colour, shaved head, racing snake build having lost weight in the Jungle and was wearing baggy shorts!

To this day I can be walking down the street and i hear a "Hey min, Ghandi, foo's ya doo's?" For those of you dan saff, it means how are you doing? :)

JUI

I used to go under Lost_Landy on a Merc forum as the 109 was my first restore. I don't bother with it anymore. Spam, bluffers and members who look down on 'lesser' diesel models.

We are fortunate to have such an excellent community on these fora.

Lost_Landy wouldn't work here as this is home for the 109 in a way. JUI was the best my imagination could come up with.
I'm known as Steve Collins to none landrover types.
