I have a TD4 which is blowing oil out of the dipstick hole. Even if the stick is pushed right in the pressure makes it come back out after a few miles of fast driving. Could this be the crankcase breather blocked? I think this breather is located on top of the engine to the left of the injectors. Any help would be appreciated. Tnx

Yes, looks as the engine breather blocked. But it's not to the left of the injectors but seen from the front of the car it's located behind the injectors (red arrows), you need to remove the airfilterbox cover, the electrical wires (green arrows) and possibly the middle return fuel lines (yellow arrows). Think I still got a picture of it, will check and add it here, have also downloaded a pic of old and new filter. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I replaced the filter in the depression valve and the problem is cured. It's a fairly easy fit, took me about an hour from start to finish. The LR dealer mentioned to me that this filter is now a service item and should be changed every 12000 miles. Let's hope someone makes a pattern part because £21 for this timy filter is a bit steep!

Sorry I forgot something. Your picture shows the rubber gasket fitted onto the valve assy, before replacing it back onto the engine. On mine the gasket fitted into a small slot on the top of the engine and the valve has a flat face which mates with the gasket. It's a bit of a fiddle to fit it in.

Hi carey,
Glad it's allright now and re that slot on top of the engine, mine is the same, but I put the gasket on the part to show on the picture, took that picture before I removed the old part and the gasket being positioned square on the part looked odd to me, once the old one is removed it makes sense. Thanks for the advice anyway and good luck.
