Well in the course of helping someone out this morning i've now in the procession of a whole box of "The Motor" mags from the 1950's till early 60's
Priced at one shiling its absoluetly fasinating reading, some things have changed but some have not reading just the "World of Motoring" theys articles on income tax on car radios, radar-controlled "electronic speed controlled sign" common now, white paper on the MOT and insurance going up. The biggest moan is the high cost of motoring taxation (whats changed)
Some of the adverts are brill, Halfords is there so are various greese guns we use today
As for Rover a Land Rover SWB station wagon was £1028.17s.0p basic was £685 , the basic price i think was before purchase tax, dealer fees etc, at about 50 years ago just working out the price compared to now with the RPI calculator.
On this issue the road test was a Humber Hawk road test 23/57 i'am going though looking for the landy ones
