Starting to get a bit of damp on passenger carpet, (feels slightly greasy and has a slight smell but both could be just from the carpet itself) have dug round and it seems to be coming from behind center console area...Have read in past somewhere about heater matrix/pipes leaking.
Have been losing very slight amount of coolant since Ive had the motor (2 years)and is definitely not HGF or anywhere else in engine bay.

Before I start stripping things out has anyone had this problem and if so is there any sort of test to find/eliminate source of leak, whats involved in fixing, if it is the matrix any idea of cost of parts and labour for job to be done.

Car does have aircon if that helps

Cheers in advance

Hi,

Can it be that the condensation evacuation pipe is blocked and thus 'overflowing' in the passenger footwell ?? This small rubber pipe you can find behind the engine, it's about 20 cm long and comes out of the passenger compartment in an L-shape, it goes straight down next to the metal backplate of the engine compartment, the end looks as it is squeezed together. If that pipe is blocked/obstructed the condense gets out inside the car into the carpet etc...??

Have had a good rummage run both air con and heater up full for a while and is definitely coolant and not air con evaporation, any body know a quick/simple metod of seeing if its hoses or matrix???

No easy way I'm afraid...Most probably the heating matrix is leaking (my case). You will have to remove the entire front panel (a day's work) and check the matrix for red salts or fluid. If so, you should replace it. Costs about 300 euros
