Hi

anyone gone to morocco recently?

WHat tyres do you recommend bearing in mind a tour of the atlas mountains and well as the sandy areas by algeria?

Anyone have any good ones left over they can part with?

Thanks
patrick

You would get by with ATs or even road tyres.

In sand, road tyres have proved to be better than MTs. As a lot of the terrain is sharp rocks, an AT tyre with good sidewall protection would be ideal and a good all rounder.

as AJ says, but I'd avoid road tyres, cos both times I went it P*ssed down and road tyres would have been a trouble on oued crossings and some pistes go quite muddy. ATs are the best bet.

BFG ATs all the way if you are looking for ATs!

Ditto the above. BFG AT's or Pirelli Scorpian AT's.

BFG ATs bulge on the sidewalls next to the footprint and are very susceptible to getting damaged by sharp rocks. Seen two BFG AT tyres damaged on Morocco trips on two different vehicles. Apart from that they're good tyres.

When I went in September I fitted a set of General Grabbers that are fitted to all new rovers as standard.

They were perfect for the driving we did although we couldn't drop the psi as low as those with BFG's. They were fine in the dry and when the rains came in after we had left, those that had them fitted didn't do too badly.

We also had a guy survive with BFG MT's, which were not too bad even in the desert.
