Steering became heavy over night
One day it`s ok morning it is heavy. Oil level ok I think that there is a whine from the pump but not sure

Check the accessory belt is still going around and that the pas pulley is actually turning.
Mine always groans in the morning but only the first time you use it , it did get worse but i found the belt was old and shiny and the auto tensioner was running out of line, new belt £10 and tensioner £27 fixed it apart from the groan first thing.

Give it a clout, the pressure release valve in the pump is probably stuck open.
