Howdy,

I have a "cylinder 6 misfire" ODB code and I have replaced the plugs and the wires and I am still getting it. The 2001 Disco will lose power around 2000 RPM when I am going up hills and then regain the power if I slow down or speed up. What should I try next?

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Dan the td5 is a 5 cylinder engine hence the td5 name so i dont see how you have a missfire on cylinder 6 when it dosnt have one the tdv6 is a 6 cylinder engine hence the name

Oh bushy:o Get the smell of diesel out of yer head - last time I checked a Td5 didn't have plugs and leads. Its a V8:eek: Now say sorry:D :D

Could be a defective coil pack perhaps? I'm no expert though.;)

Could be a air leak?. Start the engine and spray WD around the inlet area, see if the engine rev's rise. if it does, it could be the inlet gasket or a cracked inlet.

Good advice on a carb engine - but I'm not so sure on a Thor V8 with all its elctronic injection hotwire stuff.

DanAre you running on petrol or LPG ? Where did you get the leads and plugs from ? Its very difficult to see but are there any burn marks around the outlet of the coil pack on No 6? Have you done a compression test ?

Reading through a old LRe last night and came across a problem, they carried out a pressure test and No3 (the missfiring cylinder) had low compression and ended up being a split liner.

I hope that is not the case for you, but got to be worth a look.

Let's try diplomacy. There's a Discovery and a Discovery II. Both had V8 variants, which were never referred to as Tdi or Td5. So, referring to a Td5 would lead you to think diesel. "V8 Disco II" might have cleared thinks up.

Either way, I can't help with your problem. Sorry.
