Driving yesterday on the motorway and every so often I could hear a noise that appeared to come from the rear wheel - I thought maybe something was stuck in the tyre but when I stopped nothing could be seen.
It isnt loud and tonight I noticed more when slowing down and as I turned into a parking space at work. I changed the bushes on the dampers a week ago and there are no leaks etc.
Any idea's what it might be, can it be a uj?????

If you took the wheel off, check the nuts again.

Problem solved but its very disturbing.Had the noise again last night and checked with a mate and someone has loosened all the wheel nuts on both back wheels.
I checked these when I came back from my Hols Saturday and they were fine. I had to brief the staff at work about certain un pleasant possibilities for our office (Im a Manager for our local Royal Mail sorting office) and it seems somebody loosened the nuts as it was parked on the local British rail carpark.
It can't be an anti 4x4 thing as my mates Disco was parked next to me and his are fine?
Sick or what, only doing my job and this happens?

Not necessarily, mine came loose on the front nearside all on their own! I actually lost two nuts, and the other three where well on the way to going West!!!
Cheers.

Nearside wheels do come loose fairly often, it's the right hand thread. Trucks and Buses used to have Left Hand threads on the nearside. The nuts self tighten if they are the same direction thread as the wheel rotation.

I agree but I tighte4ned them all with a torque wrench two days earlier and I always check em every week anyhow and have never had a problem - less than two days later all my wheels lose????
Don't think thats accidental.
