Hi Si_guru
I have to agree with you, we looked at a couple in some local garages - ideal wee cars.
1 Garage wanted £1050 for a P reg with 80k on clock.
Other garage wanted £750 for P reg with 53K on clock.

Did you get sorted with a car Pete ?
If not I've got an escort ghia that you may be interested in
No tax but 10 months MOT
Get this - 36,000 miles from new ! and one previous owner !
Has a new exhaust and all the electrics work fine (windows , sunroof etc)
Only accross the pond from you in Dunoon
Its on a J plate and not asking for much - £200 would buy it
Its bright red and has an auto box

Hi V8Kenny,
Sounds a little cracker. I'll ask the daughter tonight if she's interested, but I suspect because its an auto the answer may be no. What size is the engine 1.1 or 1.3. 36K on the clock!!! its not even broke in. J plate, thats 92 / 93ish?
Peter.

Hi Hubber, hows you doing mate?
Thanks for that, I really need to ask daughter person about it.
I got a quote from Adrian Flux for her ... due to the age they suggest 3rd party F&T for her ... lots of add on bits, sounds a corker of a deal. Free roadside recovery, bags of liability and personal injury cover other bits as well. They quoted £1102 thats even taking in that she only has a provo license at present.

I was going to suggest a Cinquecento Sporting as well.
I had one for a while - it was a great wee car. It has a close ratio gearbox (the Siecento did not have this).
Broom Yellow is a fab colour as well.
It always felt fast and was BIG fun. Make sure it comes with the 'red key' as this is the one for the alarm reset etc....
The parts were cheap (I fitted a K&N filter, Sports Stainless exhaust (Sounded FANTASTIC), Brembo drilled disks & uprated brakes - all cheaper than Fiat original parts).
You can get Abarth kits for them and they have quite a fan base in the Italian car scene. The used to be rallied and are pretty good for auto-testing (but not so good on PCT's due to the low profile Pirelli rubber)
My only regret is that by the time my kids learn to drive there wont be any decent Cinquecento Sportings around.
They are Group 2 insurance
Watch for :
Accelerator cable snapping (always carry a spare)
Front tyre wear - and Pirelli used to be the only make of tyre that was to the original size - but this may have changed?

IMHO - why buy a mini when you can buy a Chinq
