Discovery ground to a halt last night. :Cross:

Clutch pedal went straight to floor, cannot engage gears. but gearbox seems ok, (can locate gears ok with engine off).

Pulled clutch pedal back up, went straight to floor again then pedal went rock hard.

Anybody got any ideas, could it be master cylinder? or does it sound more expensive?

Help

Could be thrust bearing fork. But yet again my clutch did not stay down when it broke.

Had the same thing on my old Range Rover and that turned out to be the Thrust Race Fork that had bent on it's mount. cheap in terms of parts but a pain to replace.

Check you have oil in the master cylinder and the seals are ok on the slave as you may just of blown the seals and that can be done easily and cheaply.

It may very well be the fork. I literally grenaded my clutch offroad and the pedal went to the floor-your case sounds a lot less violent. But in my case the fork was bent and the plate was shattered, suffice it to say it was a costly repair as I had to leave the truck at my in-laws to get fixed and then we had reoccuring problems with the cylinders and such.

I would, of course, check the seals and fluid levels on the master as that is a much easier and cheaper repair.

Good luck!

Well Guys Thanks for the responses, the garage has confirmed that it was indeed the fork and are happily relieving me of approx £350 for the benefit of replacing it.

Not quite as painful as I had anticipated but a pain none the less.

Still hopefully its one less thing that will now go wrong in the future. hohohohohohoho.
