has anyone successfully downgraded their factory installed vista to xp?

i have a few people who want to do this and after having spoken to microsoft licensing they told me that all you need is quote "an xp cd and any xp licence number".

i have heard rumours since that only certain versions of vista allow thie ie. the expensive ones.

anyone confirm?

best to wipe it and start again i dont think there is a specific way to downgrade as such,
some versions dont have IE included yes but this is to get around the rulings hat said MS couldnt force you to use IE. Even the home basic version will include IE as most manufactureres wouldnt sell a PC without it.
