UK/EC Type Approval

Grateful for help of membes.

Proud owner of Disco 300TDi that has taken us around most of Sub Saharan Africa for the last 9 years. Now it is time to return to UK and conversations with the UK Dept of Transport are confusing me.

Disco is a 1995 model 300 TDi VIN SALLJ7MA117723 - and I am trying to ascertain if that meets the UK (EC) type approval rules. Can anyone advise?

Realise that before I can use it in UK I have to change the speedo to mph, change or remove the alarm (315MHz), remove bull bars and no doubt another dozen things. But all that will be worthwhile to bring "our friend" back home.

There is information there about the procedure.

Bull bars are not illegal in trhe UJ (yet) but you'll have less hassle if you remove them. Otherwise the vehicle shouldn't be too far away in respect of the specification.
