hi all, new here, anyway. got myself a CB from maplins, Cb works Fine, purchased and ariel from maplins as well 15.00 quid, no need to tune. but i dont seem to get any range on it, mate of mine lives 5 miles away, but i cant hear hear him. can you suggest an ariel for my car, and what average range could i expect.
will the ariel you suggest need to be tuned, or just plugged in, as i know nothing.

Not sure of the range you should expect, but i wouldnt think you will get 5miles range form a cb without relay of some kind...
Timbott is the man on the forum to ask about amatuer radio....

Quite some time since I played with a CB radio I had a Midland rig, I do remember that the UK legal sets had a range of 12-15 miles, though I could pick up other users up to thirty miles and on good days even as far as Ireland. Try trimming your aerial.

Let's have details of how you've wired things, earthing at aerial feedpoint etc.
