Well dad (icm1990 on here...when he makes his 1st post:rolleyes:) has finally got his first landy... a 3.9 V8 auto Disco 1 of all things:D:D but its erm a bit thirsty:o you can literally watch the gauge drop when you go to just 1/2 throttle:D..he won't floor it - i even offered to pay for the petrol, £20 didn't even persuade:rolleyes::D so before his not so bottomless pit of a wallet runs out he's going to get it converted locally at a quoted price of £1800 for conversion with lpg tank and petrol tanks in the wings (?) Just wondering what people's opinions are as its seems our best option. Thanks in advance, Jonathon and Ian:) Oh and while I'm on...Cruise control erm help we tried to use it yesterday going to and from Billing - going at about 60 he pushed the cruise control button, pushed and held for a while the accel button (i think thats what its called) but it wouldn't kick in...any suggestions on technique other than its broken:rolleyes: Cheers

I have gas tanks under the sills and in place of the original petrol tank which gives a good range. I have a small petrol tank which is mounted inside the osr wing behind the wheel and it's filled from the standard filler. I didn't have the conversion done but I have bills for over £2k for it so I would say the price he has been quoted is more than fair. The only thing to bear in mind is the range on petrol in areas that gas isn't readily available.
regarding the cruise control, i had the same problem and it was the rubber hoses from the pump (under the panel thet the jack sits on). The ends of the pipes had perished and just needed to be cut back and refitted.

Just make sure its a multi-point injection system as opposed to single point as these cause more problems than they are worth.

Ta for the replies so far...will be having a look under the bonnet to see that oh so wonderful Rover V8 so we'll check (thanks for tips on the location:)) the pump and pipes tonight:) The company that he's most fond of and which is also quite local only does the multi point so no problems there:) Cheers again! Might even take it on one of the local public roads, not quite a green lane:rolleyes: thats just been left to deteriorate so is rather rough, tonight, which should be interesting;)
